Police: Woman escapes from police squad

Beloit police said a woman escaped from police Wednesday afternoon.

Beloit police Sgt. Matthew Donovan said 19-year-old Unique A. Handley was picked up Wednesday on a probation violation. She escaped an unsecured squad car at about 4:40 p.m., before she was transported to the secure entryway at the department at 100 State St.

Handley is described as black and was wearing a turquoise tank top and gray sweatpants. She was not wearing shoes, Donovan said.

A Janesville police K-9 unit and Beloit officers were still searching for Handley in Beloit Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. South Beloit police were also searching, Donovan said.
