Police use Taser, pepper spray on group of fighting women

Police had to use a Taser and pepper spray to break up a downtown fight between three women over a man, according to a release from Madison police.
Police were called to the 1000 block of West Dayton Street at 1 a.m. Saturday to break up a fight outside a house party.
Officers said they said they saw a 19-year-old Madison woman delivering repeated blows to the back of a 16-year-old girl’s head as the 16-year-old was on the ground fighting with an 18-year-old woman. Police told the 19-year-old to stop, but she refused, and an officer used a Taser on her, fearing for the safety of the younger teen.
The others also ignored officers’ orders to stop the violence, prompting officers to use pepper spray, according to police.
Police said two of the teens have a shared interest in the same young man, which prompted the fight.
The three women were cited on suspicion of disorderly conduct. The 16-year-old was also cited for underage drinking.
