Police searching for two people after crash, shots fired on East Washington

Madison Police are looking for two people who shot at and crashed into another car on East Washington Avenue Saturday night.

Police said they were called near the 3900 block of East Washington, near Wendy’s, around 8:45 p.m. Saturday for reports of a crash. It was also reported that the two cars involved exchanged gunfire before the crash.

Police found casings and bullet damage to one car, but not the other, and said the second car wasn’t involved in the shooting. Rather, they say that car was shot at.

Two people were reportedly seen running from the car that crashed, and police are still looking for them this morning.

There were no injuried, but police closed down part of East Washington overnight as they combed the area for bullet casings. This was the third shots fired incident in the Madison area on Saturday alone.

Earlier in the day, a stray bullet lodged into a bedroom wall during a shooting in Fitchburg.

In Blooming Grove, a 16-year-old boy is recovering after he was shot walking on Burns Avenue.
