Police Search For Missing ‘High-Risk’ Sex Offender

A “high-risk” sex offender is being sought by police after he removed his monitoring bracelet on Friday afternoon.

Madison police said Dale Roder, walked away heading eastbound at the 5700 block of Odana Road at about 12:30 p.m. after he found out he was going to be taken into custody due to probation violations.

Police said they arrived at the location at about 12:43 p.m. and started a K-9 search to track Roder.

All neighboring day care centers, the West Towne Mall and any areas that Roder potentially could have gone to within proximity to where he was last seen were all checked, but he was not located, police said.

Taxi cab services and Madison Metro Bus Company were also contacted, in the event that Roder attempts to utilize those mobile services, police said.

Police said Roder is considered a “high-risk” sex offender with mental health issues. He was convicted of sexual assault of a child and an unconscious person in 2004, according to police.

Anyone with information about his location should contact 911 immediately.
