Police respond to 6 reports of shots fired in 48 hours

MADISON, Wis. — Officers responded over the weekend to six reports of shots fired in Madison, according to police reports.

Madison police said officers were called to several places in the city between 5:19 a.m. Saturday and 1:05 a.m. Monday.

Possible gunshots were reported:

Saturday:

5:19 a.m. in the 6500 block of Bettys Lane

Sunday:

12:53 a.m. in the 200 block of Oak Street

1:28 a.m. in the 1400 block of East Main Street

2:07 a.m. on Chicago Avenue at Fair Oaks Avenue

2:28 a.m. in the 3400 block of Graceland Avenue

Monday:

1:05 a.m. in the 1400 block of Spaight Street

Officers who responded to the locations did not immediately find any evidence, such as shell casings or damage, and there were no reports of injuries.

Last week, the police department fielded seven weapons-related incidents, which police Chief Mike Koval called a “horribly compelling night of crime,“and asked city leaders for more resources to combat a spike in gun violence compared to last year.
