Police Respond To 2-Vehicle Crash On Eastbound Beltline
A two-vehicle crash in the eastbound portion of the Beltline closed traffic lanes Tuesday afternoon.
Monona Police Department said officers were dispatched about 1:36 p.m. to a vehicle crash on the Beltline over the Yahara River Bridge.
Initial reports were that one person was pinned in a vehicle. Upon arrival it was determined the driver of the passenger car was pinned and extricated from the vehicle by the Monona Fire Department.
Police said traffic lanes were shut down for a short time while the crash was investigated.
Based on statements obtained at the scene, it appears the passenger car sideswiped a sport utility vehicle towing a trailer, police said.
The collision caused the SUV to jackknife and the passenger car to strike the center median, police said.
Police said neither driver showed any signs of impairment. The driver of the passenger car was transported to a local hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.
Authorities said the crash scene was cleared about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday and all the lanes were reopened.
