Police: Man threatens woman with bat after crash
35-year-old denied arming himself with bat to yell at woman, officials say

MADISON,Wis. — A 34-year-old woman told police she was threatened by a man with a baseball bat after a crash Sunday night on Madison’s south side.
The woman from Theresa, Wis., said she rear-ended a car around 6:45 p.m., and the driver, Benjamin J. Gunther, 35, of Mount Horeb, got out of his vehicle, according to a release. She said Gunther was yelling as he approached her vehicle while swinging a bat.
When police got to the scene, Gunther said he did raise his voice and swear at the woman, officials said. But he did deny arming himself with the bat officers found in his car.
Gunther faces tentative charges of disorderly conduct while armed and carrying a concealed weapon (knife).
