Police: Man flicked blood at officer

A Mauston man was arrested after splattering blood at a police officer, according to a release from Mauston police.

An officer was called to the 100 block of Maine Street for a medical call at about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Jason P. Sonnenburg, 37, was involved in an altercation with his live-in girlfriend when she picked up a knife to defend herself. He grabbed the knife away from her, causing cuts to his own hand, according to the release.

Sonnenburg flicked blood on the responding officer, according to police.

Police said Sonnenburg apologized to the officer for flicking blood at him, but at the Juneau County Jail he spit at another officer.

Sonnenburg was arrested on suspicion of battery to a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and substantial bodily harm, domestic.
