Police: Man claiming to be police officer sexually assaults victim

A 29-year-old Beloit man is accused of pretending to be a police officer and sexually assaulting someone he met through social media.
Beloit police said they started an investigation on March 31 after a report of a sexual assault at an apartment in the 1000 block of Pleasant Avenue. They said Kelsey Kenney arranged to meet the victim at the apartment complex.
Kenney told the victim that he was a police officer and sexually assaulted the person, according to police.
A search warrant was served at Kenney’s home on Wednesday. He was arrested on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault, impersonating a police officer and soliciting prostitution.
