Police: Man arrested in road rage incident

Madison man arrested at West District police station

Madison police said they arrested a 59-year-old man Friday night after a road rage incident.

A 37-year-old woman was driving south on Whitney Way around 9:15 p.m. when the man, Craig A. Halverson, pulled onto the roadway from a driveway, police said.

While driving down the road, the woman told police Halverson intentionally moved into her lane several times before sideswiping her car, forcing her to hit the curb and causing damage to her vehicle.

When she tried to drive to a nearby location to talk to Halverson, she told police he started to honk his horn and scream at her.

She told police when she came to Raymond Road and Whitney Way, Halverson rear-ended her vehicle while driving about 25 mph.

The woman called 911 as she drove to the West District Police Station.

Police said Halverson followed her there and said he wanted to make a citizen’s arrest.
Officers quickly determined Halverson was at fault, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Police said Halverson was arrested on charges of second-degree reckless endangering safety, disorderly conduct and deviating from the correct traffic lane.

No one was hurt in any of the crashes.
