Police Investigating Sexual Assault Near UW Campus

A 21-year-old woman was forced into a poorly lit alley or parking lot and sexually assaulted early Saturday morning, according to the Madison Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. in the 600 block of University Avenue near Frances Street.

The suspect left the area on foot after the incident, police said.

The victim was unable to identify the man’s race, but she told police he was under the age of 30 and he had stubble on his face.

Police are cautioning against walking alone at night and are urging anyone with information about the assault or any suspicious behavior in the area to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
