Madison police are asking that three people involved in a fight near the Capitol Square be banned from the State Street area.

Officers were called to 116 W. Mifflin St., which is a cul-de-sac near the Capitol Square, at 9:09 p.m. Thursday for a report of a disturbance in which someone had been knocked unconscious.

Police said they found a man down and a man and woman walking away from the scene.

After speaking with witnesses and viewing video of the incident police determined that Cordez Mullen, 41, of Madison, and Keith Mattson, 35, of Madison, were fighting at least twice. Mattson was knocked unconscious toward the end of the fight.

Police said Mullen continued beating Mattson until a friend of Mattson’s drew Mullen away. That friend was later attacked by Patience Hans, 41, of Madison, according to the report.

Mattson was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Mullen was arrested on suspicion of substantial battery and disorderly conduct. Hans and Mattson were cited on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Police asked the court to consider banning all three suspects from the State Street area as a part of their bail conditions.
