Police: Drunken driver had BAC 10 times legal limit

Madison police said a man they arrested on a charge of sixth-offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated had a blood-alcohol content 10 times the legal limit to drive.
Police officers were conducting traffic enforcement on School and Wheeler roads on the city’s north side at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when they saw a vehicle traveling northbound on School Road in the southbound lane.
The vehicle then stopped for no apparent reason in the middle of the road, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.
Officers contacted the driver, identified as Julio Garrido, 61, of Madison, and he was subsequently arrested on a sixth-offense OWI charge, according to the incident report.
Police said his blood-alcohol content was at 0.20 percent.
The legal limit for someone with five prior OWI convictions is 0.02.
Police said Garrido also faces charges of third-offense operating after revocation and failure to have an ignition interlocking device installed.
