Police confiscate almost $2K in counterfeit money

A Madison man who has been taken into custody on a parole violation is the person of interest in recent incidents involving counterfeit money, Madison police said.
Joseph D. Barney Jr., 23, was taken into custody after a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of South Park Street, officials said.
Barney had been under surveillance, according to a release.
Barney had counterfeit money with him and in his vehicle when he was taken into custody, officials said. Police also found fake money at an address associated with Barney.
According to the release, police confiscated just under $2,000 of counterfeit money.
Police said they expect charges to be filed in association with the counterfeit money incidents soon.
