Police: Person who fled traffic stop near UW-Madison campus in custody
Incident prompted campus-wide alert asking people to avoid the area

MADISON, Wis. — One person is in custody after police said they ran away from a traffic stop near the UW-Madison campus Tuesday night.
In an incident report, the Madison Police Department said officers were attempting a traffic stop at the intersection of Langdon and Frances streets when one person ran. That person is in custody.
The incident report did not say why police were trying to stop the vehicle or whether anyone else was inside at the time.
Police are still investigating the case.
A campus-wide alert sent just after 8:15 p.m. warned of police activity in the 600 block of Langdon Street and asked people to avoid the area.
A News 3 Now crew at the scene saw multiple police vehicles surrounding a car near the intersection of Langdon and Frances streets.
Just after 8:50 p.m., another alert was sent out saying police no longer thought there was a threat in the area, adding people could resume normal activities.
