Plea deal expected in illegal strip search case

A Milwaukee police officer accused of illegal strip searches is expected to accept a plea deal.
Attorney Robin Shellow represents one of the men who was searched by Michael Vagnini. Shellow said the officer is expected to plead to charges of misconduct in office and strip search violations.
The 34-year-old officer is facing 25 charges from eight strip searches and cavity searches, including sexual assault. According to state law, only medical personnel are to perform cavity searches and only after police obtain a search warrant.
Three other officers are charged in the case and face trial in June. The Journal Sentinel reported Vagnini is expected to accept the plea deal during a motion hearing in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Monday.
