MADISON- Phillip C. Yagla, age 72, passed into eternal life on March 28, 2012, peacefully at home after being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2007. Philip was born on Aug. 16, 1939, in Beloit. He was the only child of the late Carl and Edna Yagla of Beloit. He married Joan McCormick on Aug. 25, 1962. They were married at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Mich. Philip was a graduate of Darrow School, New Lebanon, NY and Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo, Mich. While a student at Kalamazoo, he met his wife Joan. . Their union was blessed with three sons John L.Yagla, Matthew Yagla, and Niklaus Yagla. Phillip was a loyal and faithful employee of Beloit Memorial Hospital for 25 years serving as head of the Blood Bank. In 1988, he accepted a position with the American Red Cross in Madison, retiring from the Reference Laboratory in 2006. Phillip was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Madison, where he served as the church treasurer, an usher, deacon, and a member of the Evangelism Committee. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Phillip is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, John Yagla(Brenda) of Glen Ellyn, Ill. and Nicklaus Yagla of Madison; daughter-in-law, Dionne(Chad Maun)Yagla of Deltona, Fla.; a grandson, Sean Yagla; and a granddaughter, Hillary Maun of Deltona, Fla.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Laura Gray and the Reverend Barton Gray of Alpena, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Matthew Carl in 1990; and several cousins. Funeral Services will be held at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1 South Rosa Road , at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
