Philip O. “Pete” Peterson

COLUMBUS-Philip O. “Pete” Peterson, age 90, of Columbus, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Home Again Assisted Living with his wife by his side.
He was born on Aug. 10, 1927, in Madison, the son of Percy and Signe (Rasmussen) Peterson. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946. Pete was united in marriage to Myrtle Schliewe on June 19, 1954, and were blessed with 63 years. Over his career, he worked for Robertson Transportation and Carnation Transportation. In 1987, Pete retired as a truck driver, and he and Myrtle resided in Florida for 17 years before moving back to Wisconsin. He enjoyed watching westerns, reading western books and was an avid Packers fan.
Pete is survived by his wife, Myrtle; sister, Mildred Peterson; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Alice (James) Cornelius.
A graveside service with military honors being conducted will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Dr., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017.
