Philip J. Oyen, 85, of Potosi, WI passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster, WI. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 5th at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, WI with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial with military honors accorded will be in the St. Andrew Cemetery in Tennyson, WI. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 4th from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson, WI and on Wednesday, July 5th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. The Haudenshield Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City, WI is serving the family.
Philip was born on October 1, 1931 to Peter & Celestine (Brink) Oyen in Louisburg, WI. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Sinsinawa, WI and St. Andrew Catholic School in Tennyson, WI. He married Grace M. Wiegman on April 12, 1955, in Hazel Green, WI. He was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Philip was a member of the St. Andrew-Thomas Catholic Church and the VFW Post #5276 in Potosi, WI. Philip enjoyed playing cards, bowling, westerns, traveling, country music and time spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Philip is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Grace of Potosi, WI; 6 children: LuAnn (Larry) Fecht, Don (Lisa) Oyen both of Potosi, WI, Debbie (David) Erie of Hillsboro, WI, Connie Miles of Lancaster, WI, Chuck (Karla) Oyen of Potosi, WI and Jane (Ron) Harnage of Indianapolis, IN; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 9 siblings: Cyril (Aleise) Oyen, LaVern (Marlene) Oyen, Jim Oyen, Dale (Nancy) Oyen, Darlene Sabers, Margaret (Gerald) Eastlick, Doris (Pete) Neis, Betty (Gary) Peacock & Ruth(Ronnie) Richardson; 2 sisters-in-law: Rita Oyen and Delores (Oyen) Stoker; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers: Harold, Eldon, Nilus and Ronald Oyen , a sister Linda Oyen; a son-in-law, Michael D. Miles; a brother-in-law, Gene Sabers and 2 sisters-in-law: Rosie Oyen & Doris Oyen.
In lieu of plants & flowers a Philip J. Oyen Memorial Fund has been established.
