Pete Buttigieg to campaign in Madison for Barnes

MADISON, Wis. — Former 2020 presidential candidate and current U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will visit Madison Friday to campaign with U.S. Senate candidate Mandela Barnes.

Barnes and Buttigieg will be joined by U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, and U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan at an event encouraging voters to vote early for the Nov. 8 election — early voting starts in Wisconsin on Tuesday Oct. 25.

According to a spokesperson from the state Democratic Party, Buttigieg will also hold an event touting efforts from the Democrats on LGBTQ+ issues.

Buttigieg is the second Biden administration official to travel to Wisconsin in the final stretch of the campaign — on Thursday U.S. Labor Secretary Marty Walsh will join Barnes and Gov. Tony Evers at events in Green Bay and Milwaukee.

Former President Barrack Obama will also campaign with the Democrats on the ballot next Saturday in Milwaukee.

On the Republican side, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin will be in Waukesha Wednesday to campaign with gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels.
