Pedestrian struck by drunken driver, police say

A Brodhead man was struck by a vehicle driven by a drunken driver in Monroe Sunday night, according to a release from Monroe police.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of 17th Street at 8:25 p.m. for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

Investigators said Steven R. Stettler, 60, was crossing the street mid-block when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Larry R. Sommers, 63, of Monroe.

Stettler was taken to Monroe Clinic Hospital. Sommers was arrested on suspicion of causing injury by the intoxicated use of a motor vehicle.
