Patricia (Pidcoe) Kessenich
MADISON-Patricia (Pidcoe) Kessenich, age 85, passed away peacefully at Agrace Hospice of Madison on September 1, 2017.
Patricia was born on October 26, 1931, the second daughter of William and Una Pidcoe. Born in Madison, Patricia soon moved with her family to Milwaukee where she graduated from Shorewood High School in 1949. Moving back to Madison with her family, Patricia graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in Sociology in 1953. She worked in the social services field in Madison for a number of years before retiring to raise her two boys.
Patricia married Harry E. Kessenich, Jr. in 1958. Her two children, Andrew and Michael, were born in 1963 and 1965.
During her life Patricia was involved in numerous civic and charitable causes, with a particular support for musical organizations such as the Madison Opera Guild and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Patricia was also an avid traveler, having visited many countries across the globe, where her interest was primarily in learning about different cultures. She was accompanied on these many trips by various companions including her sister Anne and close friends, although Patricia was not adverse to traveling to distant parts of the world by herself, which she did on a number of occasions.
She is survived by her children, Andrew (Joanna) and Michael (Mary Lynn) Kessenich, brother William Pidcoe and her five grandchildren, Wilhelm, Reinhard, Kaiser, Harry and Drew.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Pidcoe and Una DeBard Pidcoe, her sister Anne Pidcoe and her husband Harry E. Kessenich Jr.
The family would like to thank the paramedics from Med 2 and firefighters from Engine 12, and the caring and considerate doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Patricia during her brief time at Meriter Hospital and Agrace Hospice of Madison. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be sent to Agrace Hospice of Madison.
