Patricia Ann (Wagner) Wargula

Patricia Ann “Patty” (Wagner) Wargula, passed away at Agrace HospiceCare, after a long battle with cancer, on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017. She was born on March 1, 1946, at home in Mount Calvary, Wis., to Erhardt and Lucille (Lex) Wagner. She graduated from St. Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, and went on to attain an MLS degree from UW-Oshkosh. She worked as a Children’s Librarian in Fond du Lac, until marrying her husband James in 1976. She then moved to Iowa, where she was the Children’s Librarian in Mason City. After moving to Wausau, the family expanded with son, Matthew, and then a couple years later, after a move to Sun Prairie, the family expanded with daughter, Lucia. After another Children’s Librarian position in Sun Prairie, Patty attended UW-Whitewater, to get her teaching certification, and she became a Library Media Specialist, finishing her career at Edgerton Community Schools. She loved quilting, cooking, gardening, and volunteering her time with Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She was also active with the University League. Patty is survived by her husband, James; son, Matthew (Alanna) Wargula; and daughter, Lucia (Jeremy) Eckes. She was a loving grandmother to granddaughter, Rosalind Wargula; grandson, Walter Eckes, and granddaughter, Clara Eckes. We will all miss her love, her companionship, the sound of her beautiful laugh, and her gourmet cooking. A Memorial Service will be held at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday Aug. 18, 2017. A private burial will take place at a later date, in Mount Calvary, Wis. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. The family would like to thank the staff of Agrace HospiceCare for their kindness and service during our difficult times.
