Packers to retire Favre’s number during Thanksgiving matchup against Bears
The Green Bay Packers are scheduled to play the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Night at Lambeau Field, and according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the team will retire Brett Favre’s number during the game.
ESPN.com was the first to report that the Packers would play the Bears on Thanksgiving Day at Lambeau Field, according to the Journal Sentinel.
The Packers will get a boost for the game because they are playing their rival, the Bears, and the NFL will get an equal boost for a prime-time matchup that is the third game of a holiday triple-header, the Journal Sentinel report said.
The Packers announced last year that Favre’s jersey would be retired, but have been planning a public ceremony. The Packers will officially retire his number and induct him into the Packers Hall of Fame on July 18.
