Packers to open 2021 season on road against New Orleans Saints
GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers may not know who will be starting at quarterback, but they do know who they’ll be facing in the first week of the 2021 NFL season.
The Packers will start their season on Sunday, September 12th in New Orleans against the Saints. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. on FOX.
The Packers beat the Saints 37-30 last year in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The Saints will have a new starting quarterback under center after the retirement of future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. Whether or not the Packers will also have a new face taking the snap remains to be seen, as Aaron Rodgers’ dispute with the organization’s front office became public on the first night of the NFL Draft.
Rodgers has reportedly told teammates and others he does not want to return to the Packers, but has not spoken publicly on the rift. If Rodgers holds out, retires or is traded, last year’s first round pick Jordan Love would be the likely starter in Week 1.
The Packers’ full schedule will be announced later tonight during an NFL Schedule Release special on the NFL Network starting at 7 p.m., but the team will post its schedule online at packers.com about 15 minutes before the show starts, at 6:45 p.m.
