It’s finally here: The Pets Issue. Our team has been excited about this special edition for close to a year, and we’ve been stockpiling story ideas for months to fill an entire magazine, front to back, with pet-related content. We counted them all: You’ll find more than 250(!) pets featured in this issue. The issue also features the winner and runners-up for Madison’s Cutest Pets Search. In meeting pet owners and collecting helpful info and advice for every stage of pet ownership, we learned that this city is a pretty great place to live with a dog, or a cat, or a hedgehog, bunny, cow, fainting goat — really any creature that brings more joy into our everyday lives.

Pick up the issue on newsstands the first week of June or order a single copy of the issue here.

Some additional June stories include:
‘I’d Rather Be Flying Dogs’: Middleton’s David Tan used to fly a military rescue helicopter. Now the retired pilot spends his free time (and his own dime) flying rescue animals to their new homes.
Music for Cats: Can music help us emotionally connect with pets?
In Memoriam: Dr. Linda Sullivan: Before her February 2022 death, the professor emeritus helped found numerous charitable initiatives and taught an estimated 2,500 future veterinarians.
Time to Play: Creator caters to all the cool cats and kittens.
Jaywalking Chicken: On University Avenue in 1931, a chicken crossed the road. Why?
Bone Appetit: Give your best friend a handcrafted treat from a small business.
These Dogs Mean Business: The canines that inspired the looks of these beverage businesses know how to sit, stay and sell.
