One dead, 1 seriously injured in crane collapse
DOT officials say crane was trying to lift beam at time of accident
OSHKOSH, Wis. — One worker is dead and another seriously injured after a crane collapsed while trying to lift a beam on an eastern Wisconsin bridge.
Department of Transportation spokesman Kris Schuller said the crane was working on the Butte Des Morts bridge in Winnebago County when it collapsed at about 9 a.m. Thursday.
Winnebago County Coroner Barry Busby said one worker died at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Waukesha-based concrete company Spancrete identified the worker who was killed as 35-year-old Joseph R. Bidler of Green Bay.
