Officials: Stolen car chase reaches 100 mph, ends in crash near Fitchburg

A pursuit by Dane County deputies of a man in a stolen car reached speeds of 100 mph ended in a crash at McKee Road just before 3 a.m. Wednesday.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office said 21-year-old Christopher Bong, of Wittenburg, led deputies on a 29-minute chase with a stolen car. The car was allegedly stolen in Eau Claire.

The department says the chase reached speeds of 100 mph and went through Madison, Blooming Grove, Monona and Fitchburg.

Road spikes were used to end the chase.

Bong was arrested for multiple charges, including first-degree reckless endangerment, bail jumping and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
