Officials identify woman killed in Middleton homicide; suspect in custody
Autopsy results released
MIDDLETON, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s office released the name of the elderly Middleton woman found dead in her garage Friday in an apparent homicide.
The victim was identified by officials as Agnes R. Bram, 82, of Middleton. Autopsy results suggest she died from blunt force trauma to the head, according to a news release from the medical examiner’s office.
In a statement to News 3 Saturday, Bram’s granddaughter, Kelly Etter, remembered her grandmother, known affectionately as “Aggie,” as a kind, spirited person. The statement reads:
“Aggie had a variety of interests including gardening and tending her yard, cheering on the Badgers and Packers and attending church at Saint Bernard’s in Middleton. She loved swimming and chatting with friends down at Harbor Athletic Club where she worked for over 30 years.
She always had a deck of cards ready to play a spirited game of Euchre at every family outing and enjoyed playing in her multiple weekly leagues.
What Aggie truly treasured most was the time she spent with her family. She had 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren that she loved deeply.
She was sharp witted, always willing to lend a helping hand and could fix anything you asked her to. She brought a smile to the face of everyone around her. She will be deeply missed.”
A suspect in Bram’s death was arrested Saturday morning, Middleton police said.
Police were called to a home in the 7100 block of University Avenue at 2:52 p.m. Friday after a male relative found Bram dead in her garage. Police said she had suffered a head wound of a suspicious nature and investigated the death as a homicide.
Police are interviewing the suspect, who they say knew Bram.
Middleton police Captain Steve Britt said the suspect, a man in his 50s, was located Saturday morning sleeping in a waiting room at UW Hospital and is being detained and questioned.
Police will make a decision about whether to charge the suspect later Saturday, Britt said. If and when he is charged, he would likely face a charge of first degree intentional homicide, Britt said.
Police do not believe there is a threat to the public.
