Officials ID Edgerton woman killed when car crashes into semi

Woman injured coming out of moving vehicle on I-90, state patrol says

An Edgerton woman was killed and two others were injured when a car ran a stop sign and crashed into a tractor-trailer Monday afternoon.

The Rock County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of State Highway 11 and County Road H in the town of Plymouth at 6:17 p.m. on a report of a car vs. semi crash. They said that when they arrived they found the semitractor and milk tanker in a field in the southeast corner of the intersection and a car in the center of the road just east of the intersection.

Investigators said the car was traveling south on County Road H when the 47-year-old Edgerton man driving the car failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the semi as it traveled east on Highway 11. The car spun around and came to rest facing west. The semi, driven by a 47-year-old Fort Atkinson man, jackknifed into the field and came to rest facing north.

Jessica Kay, 41, of Edgerton, was riding in the car and was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center along with both drivers. Kay was later pronounced dead. The semi driver was treated and released. The driver of the car is being treated for internal injuries.

Highway 11 was closed for nearly six hours during the crash investigation.
