Official IDs woman struck, killed by car near underground garage

Officials have identified the 82-year-old woman who was struck and killed Tuesday morning on Madison’s west side.

Madison police said the driver of a pickup truck in the 600 block of North Segoe Road was pulling out of an underground parking garage at 11 a.m. and didn’t see the woman.

Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said it wasn’t immediately clear Tuesday if the woman was in the driveway or the roadway when she was struck.

The Dane County Medical Examiner said on Wednesday that Margaret Ring, of Madison, died form injuries suffered in the crash.

The 29-year-old driver immediately stopped and called 911, police said. There are no indications that alcohol, drugs or texting were factors, and the driver consented to a voluntary blood draw.

DeSpain said the crash is under investigation and no citations have been issued.
