Officers find loaded handgun in vehicle parked in downtown Madison; man arrested

MADISON, Wis. — A 25-year-old Madison man was arrested on weapons charges after officers found a handgun on the floorboard of a vehicle parked downtown over the weekend, the city’s police department said.
In an incident report, the Madison Police Department said officers were checking a parking lot in the 400 block of West Gilman Street around 4:30 a.m. when they found the gun. The vehicle was parked without a permit in the lot, and the lot’s owner had asked police to provide extra patrols in the area.
According to the report, the .40 caliber Glock handgun had a round in the chamber and a fully loaded magazine.
After officers found the vehicle, they tracked down its owner and arrested him.
