NWS looks into possible tornado in Green County
Hail near Brooklyn

A series of storms in southern Wisconsin prompted severe weather warnings Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service earlier issued a tornado warning for west central Rock County and eastern Green County that lasted until 3:15 p.m.

The NWS is looking into a report that a tornado touched down in Green County Wednesday afternoon.

The report said it touched down for about one minute near Albany.

A storm rolled through that brought quarter-sized hail and high winds.

“We looked out the windows, and we started to see trees go flying, toy houses go flying and swing sets go down, and we decided to take to the basement,” Brooklyn resident Rachel Schrader said. “As we were coming out of the basement, it’s when we heard the start of the tornado warnings.”
