Norma C. Boutwell

Norma C. Boutwell, age 91, of Janesville, died Friday, July 21, 2017, at Cedar Crest.

She was born August 5, 1925, in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Ward C. and Marie (Menger) Curtiss. Norma married Paul W. Boutwell on June 15, 1946, at the First Congregational Church in Beloit. He died March 4, 2010.

She is survived by her son, William Curtiss “Bill” Boutwell and his wife, Linda of Green Lake, WI, and their children: Curtiss “Curt” Boutwell, Jodi Aylsworth and her husband, Raja, and their children, Cameron, Hannah, and Logan; daughter, Ann Himelstieb and her husband, Peter of Aurora, CO, and her daughter, Michelle Turek and her husband, Chris and their daughter, Allison; daughter, Paula Henry and her husband, Mark of Arnolds Park, IA, and their daughter, Cara Turner and her husband, Steve, and their children Hudson and Judah; son, Matthew and his wife, Anastasia of Denver, CO and their daughter, Rya Henry; and son, James Boutwell and his wife, Mary, of Jacksonville, TX and their daughters: Claire, Meg, and Anne Winsett and her husband, Ben. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Curtiss, a grandson, Ryan Martin and her husband, Paul Boutwell.

Because of Paul’s career, Norma and Paul moved several times while their children were growing up. They started in Beloit, WI, then Bloomington, IL and Elmhurst, IL, and Paul finished his career in Iowa City, IA. In their retirement they moved to a lake home in Minocqua, Wisconsin for 15 years. Norma was primarily a homemaker but also volunteered in many community activities and belonged to several service clubs. She and Paul enjoyed dinner theatres and had many good times in their Play Readers group. Norma and Paul also enjoyed house boating on the Mississippi River, traveling around the US in their motor home, and attending Elder Hostels around the country. Norma was an active outdoor person and especially loved tennis and played into her seventies. Norma was extremely proud of her home state of Wisconsin and was an avid Badger and Packer fan all her life!

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Cedar Crest. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Crest Chapel.
