MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin’s traffic deaths fell sharply in April.
Twenty-eight people died in crashes during the month, 17 fewer than last year and 16 fewer than the five-year average.
Traffic crashes in Wisconsin had killed 134 people this year by the end of April, also down from a year ago.
The numbers are preliminary. State transportation officials said drivers must buckle up to ensure safety and avoid violations.
