No injuries reported in SUV vs. school bus crash

No one was injured in a crash last week involving an SUV and a school bus with students on board, according to a release.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 3:40 p.m. April 9 about a crash on Highway 61 south of Meadowview Drive involving an SUV and a school bus, officials said.
A sheriff’s deputy said no one in the bus or the SUV was injured.
Lori Wellington, 42, of Lancaster, was driving south on Highway 61, investigators said. A Lancaster school bus, with students on board, was stopped to let students off.
Officials said the students were off the bus and walking up the driveway away from the road when Wellington hit the back of the bus.
The driver of the bus was just closing the door with the flashing lights and “stop” arm still out and activated, according to the release.
Wellington told officials she had looked down and was not paying attention.
The bus sustained little to no damage, but Wellington’s SUV sustained severe damage to the front end, according to the release.
Wellington had three children in the car with her, deputies said. Two of the three were not properly restrained in child safety seats.
Wellington was cited for inattentive driving and violation of a child safety restraint.
