New Madison Bacon Festival Slated for Fall

Bacon lovers, this is your moment.

The first-ever Madison Bacon Festival is coming November 1 to Alliant Energy Center. Organized by Iowa-based Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, which is hosting similar events in Iowa, Colorado and Iceland, the Madison event will celebrate the sizzling, savory breakfast treat, with a focus on bacon produced in Wisconsin. Organizers have even called in a local bacon expert, Dr. Jeff Sindelar of UW’s Meat Science & Muscle Biology Lab, to help ensure the state’s best bacon purveyors are at the festival.

At the event, bacon-lovers will have the chance to sample bacon and bacon dishes from local restaurants, learn more about bacon through demos and lectures, plus witness bacon competitions and an annual “bacon queen contest.” We can’t wait to see what that means.
