Neighbor jumps fence, stops bike thief, police say

MADISON, Wis. — A neighbor took action Monday morning after seeing someone trying to steal his neighbor’s bicycle, according to a release.
The Concord Avenue neighbor saw someone around 11:20 a.m. in his neighbor’s backyard, police said.
When the neighbor jumped a fence and confronted the suspect, 18-year-old Tabias M. Wilson, the suspect initially tried to ride the bike from the area, but soon abandoned it and fled on foot, according to the release.
When Wilson noticed the neighbor was recording the incident on his cellphone, he stopped running to knock the phone from the neighbor’s hand, police said.
The neighbor gave police a description of the suspect and a direction of travel, leading police to arrest Wilson on a tentative disorderly conduct charge.
