Nearly 17K attend Badgers/Gators volleyball match at Kohl Center, setting NCAA record

MADISON, Wis. — Another record was set Friday night at the Kohl Center as the reigning national champion Badger women’s volleyball team faced off against Florida.

A total of 16,833 people turned out for the match, an NCAA record crowd for a regular season match, the team announced.

The last time the Badgers faced Florida, it went five sets and ended with Wisconsin advancing to the Final Four. That wasn’t at stake this time, but the Kohl Center Classic did have Final Four feels.

It was the first time since 1998 that volleyball was played at the Kohl Center.

Even with the record crowd, the Badgers couldn’t get a win and fell to Florida in five sets.
