Neal Thomas Jones

Madison – Neal Thomas Jones, 68, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, with his family by his side. He was born on July 28, 1943, to Edwin and Dorothy (Robinson) Jones in Madison, Wisconsin.
He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BA in English in 1966 and taught for a short time at both Racine High School and Wisconsin Heights High School before leaving for New York City to marry Leslie Wygod who he met at the University in the play Desire Under the Elms. His love of literature paved the way for his career as an editor for various publishing houses in NYC, most notably Alfred Knopf and Book of the Month Club as Director of Special Projects.
Neal enjoyed traveling and visited many places in his lifetime: Russia, Wales, England, Scotland, Bali, Denmark, Germany, Rumania, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Holland, Spain and Morocco.
Neal’s affection for Wisconsin never waned; he returned for visits regularly. He and Leslie still own the Jones family farmhouse on Lacy Road in Fitchburg. He is survived by his wife Leslie, his aunt Genevieve Jackson, brothers, Robert (Ellen), Marc (Lois) and many nieces and nephews.
A private service for the family will be held graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Agrace Hospice Care, 5395 East Cheryl Parkway, Madison.
