NBA to investigate alleged Rockets-Clippers incident

The NBA will investigate an alleged incident Monday night in which several Houston Rockets players are said to have headed for the Los Angeles Clippers’ locker room following a heated game between the teams.

NBA spokesman Tim Frank said Tuesday that the league would look into the postgame events at Staples Center, according to The Associated Press.

ESPN, citing anonymous NBA sources, said several Rockets players, including stars James Harden and Chris Paul, were seeking a confrontation, but that security intervened before the disagreement got physical.

Rockets forward Trevor Ariza and guard Gerald Green were also part of the group, sources told ESPN.

Paul played for the Clippers from 2011 through 2017 before being traded to the Rockets this past summer.

Things were also heated during the 113-103 Clippers’ victory, with Clippers star Blake Griffin appearing to bump into Houston coach Mike D’Antoni and then both exchanging words after. Griffin and Ariza were also later ejected from the game following another incident.

In postgame interviews, neither team would discuss in specifics what had happened.

“We were where we were supposed to be,” Griffin told reporters. “We were in our locker room.”

When asked about the alleged incident, Paul said, “I don’t know. We took our loss. Tough loss.”
