Nathaniel “PeeWee” “Bayby Payne” “Cowboy” Paynes

MADISON, WI/ NEA, AR – Nathaniel “PeeWee” Paynes, age 69, went on to his next journey on Monday, July 4, 2022. PeeWee was born in the middle of winter on February 18, 1953, in Denwood, AR to S.P. and Alice (White) Paynes. Papa was a rolling stone. At a young age, he was accustomed to the nomadic lifestyle, which he maintained his whole life. PeeWee worked at Alter Metal recycling plant (until 1999 when he hurt his back), he also helped out at resource solutions doing odd jobs for 35 years. He enjoyed his harmonica, the blues, antiques, watching antique roadshow, women, his beer and “religion”, and especially his kids, family and friends. We will never forget his stories, his laugh, and his hands-on life lessons.
PeeWee is survived by his children, Nathanian Davis, Nicole Gallagher, Mary Alice, Autumn, Troy, Jasmine, Magalene, Brooke, and Arizona; 17 grandchildren; sister, Gladys (Benny )Masters of AR. He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, Great-nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. PeeWee is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Jo Paynes; brothers, James Love, Wallace Randall, Robert Randall, Leodis Randall, and Samuel Lee(SP) White; and sisters, Pearlene Martin and Nunteen Cooper.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, with his son Troy Paynes presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
A special thanks to the care staff at UW Hospital, especially nurse, Amy-Gail; as well to the Metro bus driver who saw something was wrong and called the ambulance so we had time to say goodbyes.
