Naomi D Rank

MADISON-Our beautiful mother, Naomi Rank, age 97, passed on to her next journey into eternal life on the wings of the angels sent down from heaven on Monday, June 5, 2017.
She was at home when she left this world with two of her daughters, Shari and Lori by her side and her daughter, Rita in her heart, and with the support of Agrace HospiceCare. We are so grateful to God that her tired body can finally rest.
Naomi Abdoo was born April 10, 1920, in Highland, Wis. She married Fredric Rank in 1940. One of her first jobs was at the Capital Times newspaper as secretary to William Evjue, editor of the paper. She left that job when Fredric went overseas with the army for World War II. When Fredric returned from the war, Rita was born in 1948, and Naomi became a stay at home mom.
After her children were grown, Naomi volunteered at the Monona Senior Center for more than 20 years. In recent years, she loved going to the casino with friends. Her daughter, Shari was her caregiver for many years so that she could remain at home.
The family extends many thanks to the caregivers from Senior Helpers of Madison that helped Shari care for Naomi over the past several months. Special thanks to Tanya Sutton, the Director of Operations for Senior Helpers for making sure that Naomi and Shari’s needs were always met. Special thanks also to Dr. Albert Musa for guiding us down the path in recent months to help Naomi maintain quality of life as her body prepared for end of life. Also thanks to Father Chad Droessler from Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish for being available to the family at times of need.
Naomi is survived by her three daughters, Rita, Lori (Mike) and Shari; and her grandchildren, Rachel and Danny. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredric; baby daughter, Linda; brother, Murlat Abdoo; and sister, Ilene Frerker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, with Father Chad Droessler presiding. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Park. A luncheon will be provided at the church, after the burial. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, June 8, 2017.
