Nancy L. Schara

Nancy Lou (Smith) Schara, age 74, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Nancy was born on Feb. 16, 1942 to Lester “Mike” and Gladys (Bishell) Smith.

She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Robert) Robson, Cathy (Randi) Mullendore, Cindy (Paul) Lust, Michelle (Thomas) Bulin, and Lisa Schara; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; her siblings, Mike (Paulette) Smith, and Robert (Linda) Smith; and her sister, Mary Smith-Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Loretta Ryan.

A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held at the Robson House, 170 Cedar Road, Oregon, on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, from noon until 4 p.m.

We would like to thank the staff at Sienna Meadows, Agrace HospiceCare and Dr. Bisgrove for the wonderful care they gave her.

Rest in peace now mom. We love you.

“Hands”

Fragile hands so frail and thin
It’s hard to know where they have been

Moments so precious it’s hard to believe
All that these hands have touched and seen

They wither away one day at a time
But the stories they cherish will last a lifetime

Deep within an old women’s heart
Is a story, a background, right from the start

It’s not the body that these hand are on
But the soul to which these hands belong.

For soon one day these hands will fly away
But the stories, the moments are sure to stay

These stories will be passed on to a generation or two
Who’s hands will also wither away soon.

But don’t forget the moments we share
For its the love and memories that will always be there.
