Nancy Jayne Wyatt Holcomb
JANESVILLE— Nancy Jayne Wyatt Holcomb, passed on to her Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Huntington Memory Care #1, Janesville. Nancy was born to Bob Stevens Wyatt and Mildred Dorothy Larson on July 17, 1933. Nancy was a very upbeat, happy, and giving person. She loved her family and her many friends. She changed her husband John from a sober, walk-the line person to one with her more open point of view. John and Nancy always tried to meet the changes in life as though each was just another chapter in “John and Nancy’s Great Adventures.” From their honeymoon in Upper Michigan, where they bought an Indian wall hanging they called “TTAW” (and which was to be a symbolic reminder to help them to get through hard times), to their year-long stay in New Zealand, they were always on the alert for the next adventure. Nancy loved being involved with the activities of her sons. She was at every Little League game, every hockey game, and every tennis match. She even played in a Mom’s hockey game. She was happily involved in church activities at Trinity Episcopal Church, including the Altar Guild and SOS. With a group of friends, she enjoyed knitting prayer shawls to give away to the ill and blankets to send to children in Haiti. Nancy also loved to play bridge. She had been employed at various times as an assistant at several nursery schools and as a clerk at Reliable Drugs. Throughout her life, Nancy remained very close to her younger sister Judy, and greatly enjoyed following the activities of Judy’s children and grandchildren. She attended many musicals, and the Busers-Holcombs celebrated numerous birthdays, holidays, and graduations together.
She is survived by her husband, John DeWitt Holcomb; two sons, John Steven Holcomb and James DeWitt Holcomb; five Holcomb grandchildren; Dagny, Jackson Dewitt, Naomi, William, and Ryan; a sister, Judy Annis Wyatt Buser; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Buser and David Walker; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Holcomb Walker and Sue Duncan Holcomb; and eight nieces and nephews, Sara, Jeni, Connor, Megan, Duncan, Gretel, Polly, and Whitney.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH with The Reverend Bob Lebron officiating. Burial will take place in Bloomington, Illinois, on Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.
The family is grateful to Agrace HospiceCare, as well as to the many friends who supported Nancy with prayers, visits, and meal preparations during her final illness.
