Nancy J. Fleming

MADISON/ FITCHBURG- Nancy J. Fleming, age 78, died on Monday, July 2, 2012 after a heroic 14 year battle with Multiple Myeloma, surrounded by her entire family at Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.
She was born in Two Rivers on September 15, 1933, the daughter of Wilfred and Cecile (Woulf) Durocher. Nancy moved to Madison at the age of 17 on a nursing scholarship to St. Mary’s Hospital. In 1953, she married Alwyn Bennett and together they had three children. She managed the City Employee’s Credit Union, retiring as President after 25 years. In January of 1984, Nancy was united in marriage to the love of her life, Darrell Fleming. Due to Nancy’s great capacity for love, one close knit family was created from two.
Nancy enjoyed travelling the world, was an avid gardener, loved playing cards, especially Cribbage, and Sheepshead and excelled at Bridge. In 2011, she achieved the honor of Life Master. Nancy had tremendous energy and an engaging personality. She will be long remembered for her intelligence, grace, charm and exquisite taste. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Fleming; her children, Steven (Kristina) Bennett, Christine (Jean-Marc) Gruneberg, David (Joy) Bennett, Diana (Mark) Mackesey, and John (Kim) Fleming; 11 grandchildren; two sisters; a brother; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, with Msgr. Terrence Connors presiding. Inurnment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Agrace HospiceCare, Inc.
