Muriel J. (Vogt) Kleinsmith

MADISON-Muriel J. (Vogt) Kleinsmith, age 98, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at The Villa at Middleton Village while in the care of Agrace HospiceCare.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1918, in Madison, the only child of Fred and Johanna (Heggestad) Vogt. Muriel resided in the Madison area for most of her life, graduating from Madison East High School and later attending MATC. She married Alvin Kleinsmith in 1935, and they had three children.
Muriel enjoyed reading, golf, craft work and gardening. She traveled extensively with her Bethel Lutheran Church group and her family. Prior to retiring in 1979, Muriel was a secretary for Lake Edge Lutheran Church and later employed at the Wisconsin School of Electronics.
Muriel is survived by her daughter, Joanne Kleinsmith-Rogers of Arizona; son, Jerry Kleinsmith of Monona; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several close cousins in the Madison area and numerous more in Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin in 1989; and son, Gene in 1994.
Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
