Muriel Frawley

Muriel J. Frawley, 83, of Richland Center died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the Richland Hospital.
She was born March 23, 1929 in Sylvan Township the daughter of Virgil and Elva (Thayer) Grim.
She graduated from Viola High School in 1947. On February 14, 1948 Muriel married Junior Burns. Upon Junior’s death in 1952 she returned to school and graduated from the Richland County Normal. Muriel taught school in Cazenovia at a one room school. In 1958 she married George W. Shireman and he preceded her in death in 1972. In 1976 Muriel married Bernard Frawley and he preceded her in death in 2001. Muriel worked at Schultz Brothers and she managed Countryside Apartments. She was very involved at the Peace United Methodist Church, serving as a Nursery School Teacher and later Adult Sunday School teacher until two weeks before her death.
Muriel is survived by three children, Richard Burns of Gotham, Jeff (Cheryll) Shireman of Guttenberg, IA, Michelle (Joe) Hofer of Highland, daughter-in-law Nancy Brennan of Richland Center, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, brother Gordon (Betty) Grim of Sylvan, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Elva, son Dennis Burns on May 2, 2008, brothers Chuck, Ladd, Verlin Grim and sister Lorraine Coppernoll.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Peace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Sylvan Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 21, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again at the Peace United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. The family suggests memorials in Muriel’s name be directed to the Sylvan Cemetery Association.
