MPD: Suspects attempt to steal 16-year-old’s phone, other belongings during strong-armed robbery

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police responded to a strong-armed robbery on the city’s west side Wednesday afternoon.

Police were sent to Muir Field Road and Tempe Drive at 1:50 p.m. An incident report said a 16-year-old boy was walking when a red 4-door vehicle that was driving slowly began to follow him.

Officials said two people got out of the vehicle, though there was at least one other person still inside. The suspects tried to forcefully take the victim’s phone and other items from his pockets, according to the report.

The victim struggled with the suspects, who eventually got back into the vehicle and headed south on Muir Field Road.

One of the suspects was described as a white man in a gray sweatshirt and ski mask, while the other suspect was described as a Black man with short dreadlocks who was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and face mask.
