MPD squad car hit by driver during traffic stop, officials say
MADISON, Wis. — A Madison police squad was hit during a traffic stop on the east side late Thursday night, officials said.
Montrel Evans-Miller, 27, was driving home from work just before midnight in the 700 block of East Washington Avenue when he hit a Madison police squad car that was on a traffic stop, according to a release.
Evans-Miller suffered minor injuries in the crash, officials said. The two officers were not in the vehicle that was hit and neither was injured.
He told police he saw their emergency lights flashing, but thought he could maneuver around the squads to get to a gas station in the area.
Evans-Miller was cited for inattentive driving and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.
